Scott Sheppard

Scott Sheppard is a performer, director, creator, and teacher living in Philadelphia. As Co-Director of the Philadelphia based theater company Lightning Rod Special, he has been a creator/performer for all of their productions. Before coming to Pig Iron Scott taught English at Friends' Central Upper School and taught English in TOURS, France. Scott was a creator/performer for Pig Iron Theatre Company’s 99 Breakups and Gentlemen Volunteers (2015-16 remount). During the fall of 2014 he was a guest faculty member at Colgate University where he directed and co-created the fall student production, Seeing the Beast. With his company he continues to teach devised theatre and physical theatre workshops for including colleges and universities like Haverford College, Roger Williams University, and Radford University. Recently he co-created and performed in Holden (Ice Factory, NYC and FringeArts, Philadelphia), Sans Everything (AS220, Providence and Charlestown Working Theater, Boston), and he performed in The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales at the Arden Theatre Co. (spring 2016). After two runs at FringeArts (2015, 2016) in Philadelphia show he co-created with fellow Pig Iron classmate Jennifer Kidwell, Underground Railroad Game (FringeArts 2015, 2016) will have its New York City premiere at Ars Nova in fall 2016. In 2016 Scott was awarded the Independence Fellowship Foundation for which he traveled to Greece to work with acclaimed dance company RootlessRoot and Seattle to make a solo with choreographer Dayna Hanson.
